Want to know how to win free books? And where to find the best book giveaways? There are lots of places that offer fun book giveaways and giveaways for bookstore gift certificates, but here are 15 of the best options as well as some suggestions on where to hunt for more book giveaways on your own!

1. Goodreads Giveaways
One of my favorite places to enter book giveaways is on Goodreads Giveaways, where you can win free books from Goodreads. Goodreads always has a continuous supply of giveaways happening that are sponsored by authors and publishers, so you know this is a good place to check if you’re looking for giveaways of printed books or ebooks!
While you can check in on the giveaway page whenever you feel like it, I also appreciate that they will notify you of a new giveaway for any books you have added to your Goodreads shelves. So if you already use this site to track your reading, you can be assured you will be alerted to any new Goodreads sweepstakes that are on your TBR list!
2. Book Riot Giveaways
Another of the best book giveaway sites you should be sure to check out is Book Riot Giveaways. Book Riot pretty much always has a giveaway (or two or ten giveaways!) happening at one time. Sometimes they give away copies of books, other times they give away gift cards to bookstores like Barnes & Noble or independent bookstores.
If you’d like, you can also sign up for the Book Riot Giveaways newsletter to be notified anytime there’s a new giveaway happening. Whether you’re interested in winning specific books or hoping to win money to buy more books yourself, this is definitely one of the best places to find free book giveaways!
3. Bookish First
Bookish First is another site to check out when you’re wondering how to win free books. The book sweepstakes here are of upcoming (not yet published) books, and new giveaways start every Monday morning.
To enter, you will need to read an excerpt of the books they are giving away and then write a few sentences explaining your first impressions of the books. Once you finish this mini review, you’ll be entered to win a full copy of the book.
While this sounds like a bit of extra work to go through to enter a giveaway, it’s actually pretty cool because you earn points for each mini review you write. Then, once you have enough points, you can redeem them by choosing one of their pre-publication books to receive for free! So even if you don’t win the giveaways often (or at all), you’re still guaranteed to get a free book eventually once you’ve racked up enough points.
4. Read It Forward
Read It Forward is a site run by Penguin Random House and their goal is to introduce you to new authors and books you will love. With this goal in mind, they generally offer weekly book giveaways alongside their weekly book recommendations.
If this sounds of interest to you, then you can enter the Penguin book giveaways directly on their site. Or, if you prefer, you can sign up for their mailing list to get up-to-date information whenever they run a new giveaway.
5. Riveted by Simon Teen
When looking for YA book giveaways, one site you may want to check out is Riveted by Simon Teen. This site is an online community run by the teen division of Simon & Schuster, so if you’re interested in young adult fiction then this is a great place to look for giveaways of new and upcoming releases!
6. Bookstr
Another place for free ebook giveaways or free paperback book giveaways is Bookstr. This site is fun because, unlike many of the giveaways on this list, they actually offer a bundle of items rather than just a book for their giveaways!
If you go to their giveaway page, you’ll see that the giveaways there are usually themed around a specific book. Often you’ll find that they include a copy of the book, a cash prize, and/or various food and drink items, mugs, etc. that relate to the book being given away. So if you want to win new books along with a fun bundle of related items, this is the site to visit!
7. Writer Space
Writer Space offers tons of book contests every month…and the prizes range from a copy of a book, to Amazon or Barnes & Noble gift cards, to even an e-reader now and then!
This site is actually meant for maintaining and promoting websites for a lot of authors, which means the giveaways here are usually aggregated from the various authors they represent. Usually, signing up for a giveaway also means you are added to the mailing list for whichever author is giving away the prize…but with so many giveaways available here, this site is definitely worth checking regularly for new giveaways!
8. Epic Reads
If you’re looking for another place to find young adult book giveaways, then Epic Reads is a site you should visit. This site is run by HarperCollins and strives to connect young adult readers with HarperTeen authors, which means there are fun giveaways of various HarperTeen books from time to time! Be sure to check out this site if you like YA reads.
9. Bookreporter
Bookreporter is another place you can look for giveaways and contests to win free audiobooks or ebooks. If you want to enter the audiobook giveaways or ebook giveaways, you’ll need to follow the prompts and rules for each giveaway you enter…which generally means telling them a little bit about the books you are currently reading or just finished reading. It’s a pretty simple process to enter, and they give away lots of good books!
10. Readerviews
When looking for giveaway sites to enter for free books, you may also want to check out Readerviews. This site offers a variety of books you can enter to win each month.
To enter, all you need to do is open the entry form, input your information, and then click the checkboxes next to the book titles you would like to try to win. You can click the checkboxes next to as many or as few of the books on offer as you would like, and then you’ll be entered into the drawings for the books you chose!
11. Fresh Fiction
Depending on your reading interests, you may also enjoy browsing the giveaways available on Fresh Fiction. Fresh Fiction tends to post giveaways for books in the romance, mystery, and fantasy genres…but you may also find a few other genres here from time to time as well. So if these sound like genres you would enjoy, be sure to check this site out and enter the giveaways available!
12. BookLoons
BookLoons is a site that aggregates information on various giveaway sites (many of which we’ve already talked about here), but they also occasionally add in information on one-off giveaways or specific upcoming author giveaways. So if you have the time while entering book sweepstakes, this can be a good site to take a peek at to check if there’s anything extra listed here!
13. Authors, Publishers, and Literary Publicists
Now that we’ve talked about some specific sites that offer book giveaways, it’s time to talk about where else you can find fun book-related giveaways. And author, publisher, and literary publicists websites and social media can be some of the best places to look!
Sometimes, especially when new books are about to be released, authors or publishers will offer a free copy of the book as a giveaway to increase interest. So if you keep an eye on author/publisher websites (or sign up for mailing lists of your favorite authors) then you can easily participate whenever a giveaway happens to come up!
14. Book Bloggers and Bookstagrammers
Another category of book giveaways you should keep an eye out for are ones on book blogs or bookstagrams. It’s pretty typical for bloggers/bookstagrammers to give away books or gift cards when they reach a certain milestone (like 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000 follpwers on Instagram). So looking for book blogger giveaways on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or on book blog websites can be a great way to find books you can win!
Following your favorite book bloggers/bookstagrammers can be a great way to be in the know anytime a giveaway happens, but if you specifically want to search for giveaways then try searching hashtags like #bookgiveaway to see what comes up!
15. Summer Reading Programs
Last but not least, if you’re looking to get free books or bookish prizes, then you should definitely be on the lookout for summer reading programs (or reading programs at other times of the year). It’s likely your local library offers a summer reading program with prizes, and this can be a great way to get a free book, an entry into a drawing for gift cards, etc.
I also run a summer reading program with prizes here on Bona Fide Bookworm (and occasionally offer giveaways for book-related items throughout the year) so if you join my mailing list you will be notified whenever one of these giveaways begins!
Save for Later
