But what exactly is this summer reading program? Well, each week this summer you’ll have the chance to read a book that matches the week’s theme…and when you do so, you can enter to win fun bookish prizes. We’ve got some epic prizes this year, so check them out below and join us today!

Summer Reading Program 2021
While reading is often its own reward, there’s no reason that reading can’t give you additional rewards sometimes too. That’s where this year’s summer reading challenge for adults comes in!
This program runs from June 14th-August 15th, and you can join in at any time. To get reminders about each week throughout the summer, sign up for Bona Fide Bookworm’s newsletter here.
Ready to join us in our reading party this summer? Here’s how it works:
1. Choose your books!
Each week brings a new theme, and your challenge is to read a book that fits that theme. Here are this summer’s challenges:
- Week 1 (June 14): A book by a new-to-you author
- Week 2 (June 21): The first book in a series
- Week 3 (June 28): A book recommendation from a friend
- Week 4 (July 5): A book with food in the title
- Week 5 (July 12): A nonfiction book
- Week 6 (July 19): A book with a number in the title
- Week 7 (July 26): A book about friendship
- Week 8 (August 2): A murder mystery book
- Week 9 (August 9): An adventure book
2. Start reading!
Once you’ve chosen your book for the week, it’s time to start reading! Read, read, read!
3. Fill out your summer reading party board to enter the drawings!
To enter for the weekly drawings, you’ll be using the graphic above to show off what you read each week by filling in the book titles over each week’s tiles! Then, share it on your Instagram or Facebook stories and tag me @bonafidebookworm so I can see it. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Visit my Instagram highlights to screenshot the summer reading party board
2. Write in the title of the book you read for the week over the week’s tile
3. Share to your Instagram or Facebook stories
4. Tag @bonafidebookworm in your story (or send me a screenshot if your profile is private).
Each book you read counts as an entry for that week’s drawing and an entry for the grand prizes, so the more books you read the more entries you get into the drawings! Weekly prizes will be drawn from entries on Instagram/Facebook each week, and at the end of the summer you can send me your filled out board to abi [at] bonafidebookworm [dot] com to enter for the grand prizes.
Who is eligible to join the Summer Reading Program?
While we strive to have giveaways like this open to as many people as possible, this prize giveaway is currently only open to residents of the US, UK, and Canada (except Quebec). However, if you live elsewhere in the world, you are still welcome to read books in the weekly themes and join the party on Instagram and Facebook!

Hi Penny! I’m so excited you’re joining us! That’s very strange that it’s not letting you sign up…I’m not sure why that happened. If you want to make sure you’re on the email list just so you receive reminders throughout the summer, you can try signing up again through this link and hopefully it will work this time.
To download the reading card, if you’re on a computer you can right click on it in this article and click “Save image as”.
